In DND, I made them roll hit dice each morning, just like a short rest, after they regained them. Most of the time it would end up with 1-5 HP, missing per person, and the cleric/druid/etc might be down a spell slot. The players were very aware of it.

The final pieces clicking together to take a concept from impossible thought process to actual tabletop ready.

I want to do a #ttrpg adventure where the players are sucked into a rebellion. Struggling with how much plot I make available for character creation and how much I keep back for surprise twists and turns. I really enjoy good left turns in adventures.

Its absolutely a better way! Thankfully, I find a lot of Anxious GM thought process soothing, creative and fun, but when it comes to a methodical and reasonable way to plan? Lazy GM is 100% on point.

Depends on if there are enough people or not.
IF we cancel because we don't have enough players to participate in the game, but we people can still show, we'll do Fight Club, where we play-test things I've been noodlin'.

If everything goes to hell and nothing happens? Probably paint minis.

Alternatively, I propose the Anxious GM method where it becomes everything you think about between sessions, obsessing about every permutation and possibility until you collapse in a fuge state. (Not actually recommended)

I approached it the same way, honestly. Editing was expensive and tough, Layout I had to grab an example to work through (I was doing D&D, so I had examples) art I trawled through Stockart sites.
For layout, I'd suggest Affinity. A one time expense instead of InDesigns perpetual license.

I played a wargame where, even more than a decade after being released, one of the main factions was consistently mispronounced. This was both because the way it was spelled did not assist its pronunciation and that this was the early '00s and things were less disseminated.
