Like just picture how a practical (or real) version of those things would look on a lit soundstage in the 70s/80s. (Or outside in Tunisia or a national park in the US!) Doesn't match!

like it's weirdly nostalgic to me in the sense of not feeling like a direct continuation of OG marathon's aesthetic (and it had 3 very distinct versions of itself even then...) but something that feels like it could've existed in parallel with it, on that 256 colour palette

but there's a lot of the graphic design that mostly reminds me of 90s magazines and the period of time when photoshop + pagemaker/quark let everyone get really crazy for a while
