20 years ago, normal people avoided technology and techies would jump on the newest gadgets as soon as they could

now, normal people buy smart toasters & coffee mugs while every techie I know is on the verge of retreating to the forest

i keep playing Umamusume Pretty Derby almost as obsessively as I played Love Live back when it first released, and with just as much money spent (none)

i have some spare keys for my car now so at least i am not without transportation, and i made more in tips tonight than any other night i've worked as a barback, so, y'know what, not terrible rn

i have been very good and not complaining this whole time but i am not gonna lie the cascade of bullshit that has hit me over the past three months makes me want to climb into a hole

at least i have good jobs

Wanted to thank everyone for their help, both on and off-stream. It'll probably be a while before I can even have new car keys made, which is... ngl a humongous bummer, so I'm gonna be roughing it for a WHILE, and shit's expensive.

what if we streamed 30 minutes from now

(kinda strange given how much downtime is in the NieR games and i frickin' love those, but i think the larger, more impactful bursts of combat feel like stronger punctuation to the overall rhythm, thus cutting down on the feeling of dragging)

sandbox games tend to be designed with broad strokes, consideration, wanderlust, and curiosity in mind, so they rarely have, like, amazing combat systems. they're always more in service to a greater point, which is a point that rarely lands for me. just feels like a lot of downtime in my mind

i guess while i don't really care to have difficult experiences all the time, well-balanced difficulty requiring precision and solid intuition does keep me engaged far longer, which i guess is why most sandbox games don't work for me.

still haven't beaten Horizon's sequel cuz it feels bad to play

yet, it's mostly platformers, combat-focused games, things like that.

terrible when it comes to stealth or RPGs. i don't have good foresight or strategy, but i do have good moment-to-moment thinking and intuition. and it feels good when i can clear a really tightly made skill check

like, yeah, i stay on 'em when the games have really solid mechanics that make intuitive sense; i've always valued games that knew how to lock its fundamentals down well, or at least well enough to sell its core conceits expertly (like, look at Death Stranding: it just works, as fiddly as it is)
