The North American Aviation A3J (first flight 31 August 1958) was one of the most advanced aircraft of its time, especially in terms of manufacturing technologies.
I'll make a version for YT in a few days to weeks

I'm pretty done with social media, I'm moving to YT and the website more and more.
No. I didn't know people from Twitter were browsing here. I opened up this app after logging out of Twitter yesterday out of disgust

But yes, Trump effect probably had something to do with that one

Note observation barge dropping its semaphore for signaling the moment that the torpedo crosses its line.

29.06.2025 10:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0MiG-23 turn rate๐งต
One important fighter aircraft performance parameter, for close range air combat, is turn rate [ฯ, measured in ยฐ/s].
I will be comparing the maximum sustained & instantaneous turning ability of the MiG-23, with that of other contemporary fighters.
Mobile protected firepower was more to replace the Sheridan conceptually but without LAPES and the compromises made for that capability. I think that's still extremely relevant. Booker was just the wrong vehicle for the job.
I don't know enough about AMPV to comment.
Studies are done before new aircraft requirements are drawn up that determine whether or not an alternative like that would work. I expect that F-35 based alternatives were explored in depth and determined to not sufficiently meet requirements, much like with F-15's development.
30.05.2025 12:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That would require a significant redesign internally externally and require a RCS re-optimization. It sounds easy but in practice with modern aircraft it's really hard. 174 is also not the only thing they want in F/A-XX.
30.05.2025 12:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I hope I'm right too. There's a possibility I'm not, but I think it's by far the better of the two guesses to make in my opinion
30.05.2025 12:32 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0CCA is a force multiplier. It's not really a "cheaper mass" approach. I don't know how to properly explain it.
30.05.2025 12:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I also trust their math mostly. A lot of this is built on existing infrastructure and tech.
30.05.2025 12:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If you do the math yourself, even with current costs, interceptors should still be cheaper than a warhead. Golden Dome isn't officially scaled and optimized for a peer threat *yet*, but I suspect this will change. It's also far cheaper than my math. I came up with ~500B.
30.05.2025 12:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I strongly disagree. This has been a common attack against non-missile-dominated warfare. But it never stood up to scrutiny. The most expensive BMD system ever proposed, based on Nike Zeus, was still a 1:1 exchange rate for warheads when the system was scaled to handle a strategic level threat.
