This was the first time I really started to learn why positioning was so important to early phase boss fights!

Rushing in and just scatter shotting this thing, or trying to pinpoint its weak spot with Normal 2 made the fight really drag on

We've had that happen against a Barroth in our playthrough. We weren't ready for it. We came back with a vengeance tho!

I found as long as I used Wyvernsnipe before starting each of its phases (once it runs away and passes out) I did insane damage.

It made my piercing shots basically pointless tho

Basically I'm aiming for a pierce up build eventually when I unlock skills.

I'm going for what I'm nicknaming a "long boy build". As long as the monster has a head and a tail, I do piercing damage all the way through. And WyvernSnipe is INSANE for damage when I can find the best position :V

I tried Sword and Board, I tried Lance, I tried giant attack sword thing.

I also tried the Light Bow Gun and Bow and while I like the maneuverability of both, they just don't do as much damage as the HBG. I trade off a bit of maneuverability to position myself while teammate keeps its attention :V

For anyone wondering my first ever Monster Hunter Rise (or any monster hunter) build, I'm putting together a crit and attack up armor with the Heavy Bow Gun. I like having the added affinity and much prefer distance attacking over the reliance on needing to parry or perfect dodge.

Currently running through Rise on the PS4! It's been a lot of fun so far with an amazing friend :V

When it comes to janky games I don't mind cheating to make a game fun, but when it comes to a game that you actually need to *learn*, I have a silly mentality about it. I feel bad about using overpowered weapons and armor lol

Also go play Resi Evil: Revelations. It's awesome :V

I honestly wasn't so sure about Monster Hunter originally. I thought it was honestly too difficult, but then I got the Defender weapon and the epic S armor.

Game became too easy.

I then went and actually started learning the patterns and upgraded armor/weapons and it's "just right" for difficulty!

I swear I'm not a Capcom Creator but dang if like 60% of the games I've been playing lately haven't been Capcom lol

Stadium Arcade, Resident Evil Revelations, Monster Hunter, and Dragon's Dogma, Chronicles of Mystara, etc

Also the Capcom sale MIGHT have had something to do with that Lol

I had such a blast playing my first Metroid! Prime is so much fun we gotta squeeze that in more often!

essentially, it's a mobile howitzer since these things could take down an aircraft, but are used for monsters instead Lol

Basically I got as far as I needed to to start multiplayer and we both were getting our butts handed to us repeatedly after immediately jumping into it. We came to the conclusion that the problem was that we had starter weapons and definitely needed weapon and armor upgrades :V

Heck yeah! I don't know much and haven't done much so far, other than the first mission, and I have to experiment but while I typically do dagger builds in most RPG games, I'm thinking sword and board to protect my butt Lol

But I can only activate my special by using the shield so maybe not that :V
