The teen volunteers at the library constantly tell me I donβt look 41 and are shocked when I tell them that I definitely do, their idea of whatβs old is just skewed haha.

A teen told me I am βpretty cool for a millennialβ which is both nice and makes me feel old.

As long as there are powerful people whose money buys them access to power to advance their own business and personal interests, the interests of average people will always come second.

Correction because I know these things do generate money because they are proven to help the economy but Iβll hope you know what I mean (even though itβs the internet).

Anyway I do think itβs very interesting how much money worldwide we are putting into tech like AI and not into things like social supports, healthcare, free public spaces, libraries, education, arts, and other things that donβt make money.

I wonβt try here- just putting my fears out into the void. But the devaluation of human connection and care should be concerning.

Every time I try to come up with a pithy post, I instead start ruminating on how many things that are happening are connected, how things like the pandemic, the widespread adoption of generative AI, loneliness, etc are all a part of the same problem, but itβs too big to even explain well.

In my small Newfoundland town growing up, Bonfire Night was always something I looked forward to. Brought over by settlers from England, hundreds of years later and hundreds of miles away, we still celebrate here with fires and effigies (unless itβs too windy).

I need a disclaimer with every post to remind people that I am Canadian and am often posting about Canadian things and not everything I post is about American politics (though I recognize those things are intertwined very often)! Sometimes the catalyst for a post like this is very local!

No! Of course not. I just wanted to remind people not to be sexist in their language when condemning shitty people. It doesnβt mean I donβt think those people shouldnβt be condemned.

I donβt have all the answers, everyone! But I do think you can say βhey this person sucks and their politics are really bad and they are possibly evilβ without calling them a sexist name. Thatβs all! With misogyny on the rise in young ppl I do think we should be aware of this!
