The teen volunteers at the library constantly tell me I don’t look 41 and are shocked when I tell them that I definitely do, their idea of what’s old is just skewed haha.

A teen told me I am “pretty cool for a millennial” which is both nice and makes me feel old.

As long as there are powerful people whose money buys them access to power to advance their own business and personal interests, the interests of average people will always come second.

I will not elaborate, but there are people who are like Disney adults, but for Christmas.

Correction because I know these things do generate money because they are proven to help the economy but I’ll hope you know what I mean (even though it’s the internet).

Anyway I do think it’s very interesting how much money worldwide we are putting into tech like AI and not into things like social supports, healthcare, free public spaces, libraries, education, arts, and other things that don’t make money.

I won’t try here- just putting my fears out into the void. But the devaluation of human connection and care should be concerning.

Every time I try to come up with a pithy post, I instead start ruminating on how many things that are happening are connected, how things like the pandemic, the widespread adoption of generative AI, loneliness, etc are all a part of the same problem, but it’s too big to even explain well.

In my small Newfoundland town growing up, Bonfire Night was always something I looked forward to. Brought over by settlers from England, hundreds of years later and hundreds of miles away, we still celebrate here with fires and effigies (unless it’s too windy).

I don’t have all the answers, everyone! But I do think you can say “hey this person sucks and their politics are really bad and they are possibly evil” without calling them a sexist name. That’s all! With misogyny on the rise in young ppl I do think we should be aware of this!

I am a queer woman who gets called a lot of things. I think there’s ways to attack without using sex or someone’s looks. That’s all I’m saying here.
