sliwa's concession speech being a thinly veiled threat of vigilantism if mamdani "enacts socialism" when he lost even worse than predicted cus his own party turned on him sure is a good summary of that guy everyone made memes about

Tonight's even more proof the mainstream reporters who are still on Twitter are suffering from a brain problem akin Havana Syndrome that is preventing them from accurately doing their jobs. They are being cooked alive by a snuff-focused apartheid algorithm.

Elected Democrats spending more time today praising Dick Cheney than Zohran Mamdani is a great case study in abject fucking moral failure.

Correction! The original credits are accessible from the main menu, and the original English localizers are still credited there as they were before. But the ones who worked on the remaster have been omitted from the remaster credits. (They still deserve to be credited alongside the LQA folks!)

Unless there is another credits sequence I'm unaware of, Tales of Xillia Remastered also fails to credit its English localizers (both past and present), as well as its English voice actors, continuing the trend of Tales games omitting these people in the credits. #TranslatorsintheCredits

Schumer had a chance to repudiate the gutter racism and Islamophobia of Cuomo's campaign and he just fucking didn't. And that is disqualifying. He should be ashamed and we the voters should make sure he feels that shame.

Coooool, cool cool cool. Our local polling place here in town isnโ€™t doing any in-person voting this year, and only has the ballot drop off until 5:30.

Itโ€™s almost like they want to suppress votes today. WEIRD.

At its heart, American conservatism is a fantasy. It's a vision of a world too evil to be saved or cared about, and fearsome enough to justify any and every impulse toward cruelty and violence that a person might have. A world resolutely unworthy of knowing, except as a danger. A world in which you will always need a gun, and to shoot somebody with it, instead of just lusting for both.

Because the world isn't actually like thatโ€”because, in general, people are just people, and mostly want to live peaceably and get along with each otherโ€”most American conservatives must mainline Fox News (or Newsmax, or whatever) directly to their brains at all hours in order to remain within the fantasy that both sustains and degrades them. In this respect, Dick Cheney got luckier than most American right-wingers could ever dream. Fanatics with brown skin crashed commercial jet airliners into the World Trade Center and Pentagon, at a time when, as vice president under the harebrained and banally evil George W. Bush, Cheney for all practical purposes ran the most lethal death-dealing apparatus in the history of the world. He got to spend seven years deciding who the bad guys were and how to kill them. He got to scrawl the simplest possible moral calculus across the world in blood. He lived the dream.

This is the Mega Millions jackpot for the American conservative. This is the golden ticket to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. No one has ever welcomed their firstborn child to the world with greater joy than that with which the American reactionary greets a Pearl Harbor, a 9/11, a dead cop, an assassinated YouTube bigot. Dick Cheney's celebration lasted more than 20 years; by the time it endedโ€”to the extent it ever didโ€”a crucial portion of American civil liberties had gone with it. More than half a million Iraqis were dead.

Against the sheer scale of that mountain of corpses, it seems almost ghoulish to mention that Cheney, more than any other person, brought us today's political reality. He did, though; the American conservative project, the old dream of making the world into a place awful enough to justify American conservatism, never had a better champion. He was a shamelessly self-dealing con man, for one thing: Chosen as a trusted associate of the elder George H. W. Bush to lead the search for the right running-mate for George W., Cheney picked himself, and then ran the Iraq War as a monumental graft machine for his Halliburton oil company and as many cronies as could be dealt in. The nature of Cheney's conโ€”aided by its contrast against Donald Rumsfeld's burlesque vamping, John Ashcroft's spiral-eyed eschatological lunacy, and the president's plain brainlessnessโ€”was a thin performance of steely, flinty-eyed competence laid over arrogance, ignorance, and ineptitude. He wrecked everything he touched, and was wrong in all of his predictions and analyses, and as a result completely discredited America's respectable establishment. Along the way, he played white America's (and mainstream media's) Islamophobia and bloodlust like arcade joysticks, to rearguard each next extension of authoritarianism and paint the administration's critics as traitors. His vileness and cynicism were corrosive, and have by now more or less fully eaten through every surface and institutiโ€ฆ

It uhhhh never came up. So I returned to the well and asked devs to explain why better leadershipโ€”not AI or any other toolโ€”is vital to efficient game development.

Tuesday's Headlines: Cuomo to the End Edition - Streetsblog New York City The Dodge Charger was nowhere to be found on Monday โ€” replaced by a scofflaw Ford Bronco and OJ jokes. Plus other news.

Staying true to himself until the bitter end of this campaign, Andrew Cuomo drove his '90s Bronco all over New York City, and parked it in bike and bus lanes. buff.ly/yVwStEe

I have been a reporter for close to 40 years, including stints covering police and the courts. This thing, from the president down, of accusing people of crimes when not charged: That did not used to be a thing. Authorities donโ€™t do that because it is unfair and leads to cases being tossed.

We strongly condemn @CondรฉNastโ€™s consolidation plans for Teen Vogue, a move that is clearly designed to blunt the award-winning magazineโ€™s insightful journalism at a time when it is needed the most. More from our statement:

I was on SNAP for several years as a single parent, and Iโ€™m here to tell you that the comments on it are as cruel, stupid, and incorrect as you think.

Dayanne Figueroa was on her way to get coffee before heading to work when she encountered a chaotic scene in West Town: heavily armed, masked federal agents making arrests on a residential street.
People yelled as vehicles honked their horn โ€” a sign now used to alert neighbors that immigration federal agents are in the area โ€” and witnesses said federal agents had arrested several landscaper workers presumed to be in the country without authorization.
As Figuero tried to drive through the 1600 block of West Hubbard Street on Friday, Oct. 10, an unmarked vehicle driven by federal agents collided with Figueroaโ€™s as it tried to speed away from a hostile crowd, multiple videos reviewed by the Tribune show.
Seconds after the crash, agents abruptly stopped their vehicle and exited with weapons in hand pointing at Figueroa, a U.S citizen. Agents then forcibly opened her door and pulled her out of the vehicle by her legs without identifying themselves, presenting a warrant or informing her that she was under arrest. As bystanders yelled, โ€œYou hit her! We have it on video!โ€ agents ignored the crowd and forced Figueroa into a red minivan and drove away.
Her car was left behind in the middle of the road, her coffee still in the cup holder, and her keys in plain view.

In Chicago, a woman was driving to get coffee when a DHS vehicle fleeing an angry crowd crashed into her car. Armed agents jumped out of the vehicle, yanked her door open, pulled her by the legs out of her car at gunpoint, held her incommunicado for hours, then released her with no charges.
