Happy Days was still fairly new at that point and hadn’t quite hit its stride, but was definitely getting popular with the kids. MASH and Good Times were both top ten shows, but I’m pretty sure nobody knew what the People’s Choice Awards were. And back then ABC was known to have the best TV movies.

Ah, that explains it- people probably tuned in after MASH, with People’s Choice in its first year and a Poseidon knockoff on NBC.

It was one of those broadcasts from the old three network days where it seemed like EVERYONE watched it. I’m curious what the other networks had programmed against it.

NOOOOOO!!! Every kid talked about this movie in school the day after it was broadcast- we were all terrified!
