World Book Day is 23 April. The death date of both Shakespeare and Cervantes. Itβs an international UNESCO initiative.
Todayβs βWorld Book Dayβ is only celebrated in the UK and Ireland. It should be called βNorth-West European Archipelago Book Dayβ.
It's all about showing force and bullying. No rules of war, no rescuing the victims of your asymmetric warfare who are no longer a threat.

On the other hand, Starmer hasn't gone cap in hand to the US as Churchill had to do in WWII. Perhaps that's what upsets Trump.
The analogy is weak as the circumstances are very different and such comparisons are not always helpful without historical context.
To be fair to Starmer, Churchill did have to practically beg the US for assistance in WWII. So maybe that's what upsets Trump, (or whichever history-free member of his admin threw seeds of the idea on the barren ground that is Trump's intellect).

Are you an unaware RW stranger parachuted into a working class area wondering why the British Muslims you constantly slag off didn't vote for you?
Here's an simple trick: knock on doors and ask. Speak to the people. Like Hannah did. Learn about the community. Politics is simple if you let it be.
It's OK it's not my son who died in an illegal attack where we massacred schoolgirls. The current administration in the US is full of monsters.

Another outstanding video from Dave "Just Have a Think" Borlace.
We are moved to look at the energy sources from the wrong end by powerful lobbies.
When we change the view from supply to use, a much clearer picture of a green future appears.

Fetterman wants us to celebrate the massacre of schoolgirls in Iran. It's frightening that he seemed the rational choice when he was up against Dr Oz for the Senate.

Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone. That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins. If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after. Sahar Delijani, Iranian author
I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own governmentβs repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.
I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.

Antarctica is changing so rapidly that we [scientists researching Antarctica] are struggling to keep up.
Significant sea level rise and ocean energy circulation changes are now unstoppable. These changes might take centuries to reverse if we don't react today.

Populist strongmen thrive where manhood feels under threat. For men facing status loss or economic strain, calls to βrestore strengthβ and βput others in their placeβ offer symbolic repair. Media ecosystems amplify grievance. Electoral politics converts precarious masculinity into votes and power.

Theyβre all different dialects of one masculine performance, going beyond psychology to a political economy of masculinity, where institutions cultivate male precarity and monetize recognition through escalating displays of force.
