This card is just for kix… literally. Here is a video of Jared letterpress printing greeting cards in a mix of green and opaque white rubber base ink. This press run involved printing 40 cards using a 3x5 Kelsey Excelsior tabletop printing press.

The print from the electrotype of a basketball was made prior to the late 1930s when basketballs stopped having laces. The text β€œGo Sacramento Kings” and β€œLight the beam!” was typeset in 30 point Caslon font. One hundred prints were made on this press run.

The picture in halftones are broken into a series of equally spaced dots of varying size. Halftones were used to introduce photographs into newspapers starting in the 1880s. Firmer packing is needed in printing halftones as well.

The print depicts the Tower Bridge in the mid 1930s with the Delta King traveling underneath the bridge. The Tower Bridge is just a few blocks away from the Sacramento History Museum. This was printed with rhodamine red rubber base ink using 3x5 Kelsey Excelsior tabletop printing press.

Even while letterpress printing with our jobbing press, Howard has jokes. On January 18, 1779, Peter Mark Roget was born. He is the author of the β€œThesaurus,” which was published in 1852.

Ever since, the thesaurus has helped people find synonyms while writing. It even helped us with this joke.
