A LARGE yellowhead moray (Gymnothorax rueppelliae), an eel with a bright yellow head (especially in this warning posture) and a light grey body with darker grey bars, a really beautiful animal. Night dive off Ulua beach, Maui, approx 12 meters deep.

A toothy critter cosplaying Betelgeuse for Halloween? :) This Yellowhead moray was...not thrilled I interrupted his evening hunt. This is something of a threat posture, the eel deepening its yellow head and grey stripes as a warning. One of the few species you want to be cautious around. :) 📷🌿🐟🦑

I come across some interesting-looking plants in my neighborhood. Balloon plant is a plant in the milkweed family native to southeast Africa. It is known for its unusual, inflated, pale green, bladder-like seed pod.

To stand up to ICE agents, some Chicagoans are arming themselves with whistles The plastic whistles have become a way to loudly resist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and warn those who may be in danger.

Whistles: An extremely low-tech community tool that could prove invaluable over the coming months. I'd like to see a well-funded organization mass produce these and encourage people to hand them out liberally, to friends and neighbors, as party favors, for free at checkout counters, etc.

Or, take that same money, partner with the grocery stores, and set up food banks outside each location.

Bill Gates hasn’t made sense on Climate since he teamed up with Bjorn Lomberg in 2009. This is just a restating of Bjorn’s book from this year about how we have a finite amount of money and we shouldn’t use it for climate. What they get wrong is that climate solutions are now fully profitable.
