In 1914, Mykola Leontovych composed and practiced the song we now know as 'Carol of the bells' in Pokrovsk, eastern Ukraine. He was murdered by a Russian agent in 1921. Pokrovsk is now under siege and mostly destroyed by Russians. Remember this when you hear 'Carol of the bells' this Christmas.

What a despicable distraction from the thousands of children that were not returned.

What the article says is basically that Ukrainian teeneagers speak Russian when that is the language of their parents and grandparents. Not really modern.
