Last night @spspnews.bsky.social celebrated the accomplishments of @afhayes.bsky.social, awarding him the Methodological Innovator Award. It was incredibly moving to see methods development celebrated at #SPSP2026. Congratulations Andy!

Some times you have to make work a game. And today that game was called β€œDelete 20 words per paragraph in your paper”. I genuinely did not think I could do this, but it made the whole paper much tighter.

Yes, I agree it shouldn't be required. Both because it could incentivize poor behavior, and the invitations are not ubiquitous. I think we should also consider broadening the reviewer base (don't just always invite the most famous scholar in topic A)

Yeah it’s tricky because students are often not asked. But they do submit. Just had a convo with a grad student about this issue this week where they want review experience but don’t get asked.

I would love to see journals with APCs offer discounts for completing reviews. 2-3 reviews = one free submission.

I like the idea of a paper karma system. When you get two reviews on a paper, accept two reviews. I used to do this more closely and I’ve lost track but I’m consider returning because I feel similarly overwhelmed.
