If this movie hadn't been overshadowed by the constant (misogynistic, predatory) coverage of Lohan's personal life I think this movie would have been a much bigger hit. Its got the feel of a much older film, its a lot like some of the 60's/70's horrors. I enjoyed it a lot more than expected!

It worth the watch!! It's got some really really good bits, some questionable bits and it often Zigs when I expected it to Zag.

Watching The Last Voyage of the Demeter. When I was much younger I used to have the most vivid dreams/nightmares about being turned into a ships figurehead. All tied up, unable to move, there serving a symbolic purpose. I have just realised those aren't vanilla thoughts to have.

• Steve becomes a constant again in Eddie's life. He stops talking to his 'friends', avoids their parents as much as possible and spends time getting to know Wayne more. Steve follows Eddie around school, not really engaging with Eddie's friends but getting to know them by watching and hanging around. • Eddie and Steve keep sharing Eddie's bed when Steve stays over. They wake tangled up in each other. Morning wood is never addressed but isn't shied away from either. • Steve starts kissing Eddie goodbye, on his cheek, when Steve has to go back home. They don't talk about it. • Steve's dad blows up at him when news reaches him that Steve is no longer friends with Tommy and co. They have a row, his dad slapping Steve and he leaves after promising that Steve's life would get extremely difficult if he didn't behave. It's the first time Steve has been hit by their dad. He rings Eddie. • Eddie comes to the house for the first time since leaving. Steve apologises for not sticking up for Eddie, for not doing anything when their dad hits Eddie. Steve cries and cries and cries, holding on to Eddie tight. Eddie says he has nothing to be sorry for. Eddie asks if Steve wants to leave like he did. Steve does.
