The housing affordability 'debate' is so stupid. In a nutshell, negative gearing + CGT discounts accelerate price growth. Reforming it won't make houses cheaper, it will just stop continued runaway growth. Building more houses will make houses cheaper, but you need more construction workers.

GST distributions

Meanwhile, Australian public servants earn far less than they would in the private sector for any remote like-on-like job comparison. Earning more than US or UK equivalents isn't a problem, it's a necessity. It's in the tier of European nations with state capacity and Singapore.
