The garden has some goodies in it!

Hitch was a bit anxious and oh boy, we got a lil close to a tree. Glad I wear a helmet. 😅

We accomplished our first little jump today! First attempt was misjudged and I almost fell off 😂 lots of laughing after, i made a second attempt and was still laughing as I came up 😂
The whole ride was a little challenging.

Ran out of carrots and apples, but I did have some strawberries! Hitch LOVED them!

The best boy and I had a nice easy ride yesterday. Did a warm up and then meander through the wild flowers. Such a pretty evening and it felt so nice out 🥰 did a little practice riding without hands

Cows escaped the show. Didn't get score cards out to the class for like a half hour after it was supposed to go. Apparently there were less volunteers, and I wonder if that has to do with someone being fired.
It was a weird day.

And we have plenty of time to practice building up to it.
BUT! Hitch loaded up like a CHAMP!
Other highlights: i lost my phone in the arena, but the other people warming up helped me locate it. It was safe and not crushed, even after being half buried in the sand.

We fell apart during a segment. Got off center during reining. I felt good at certain points and just forgot entirely to go to the next lead, or went to the pattern from last time instead of this time. 🤪
I'd like a redo. Not really possible, but there's next time.

Hitch and I completed our third show today and it was not our best. I was very frustrated with myself in the warm up. Had myself a lil cry.
Every class had a hiccup. The judge changed the pattern in the trail and was leaving the rule judging up to the coordinator??

We got our first sliding stop under the belt today! 🤩

Hitch is doing SO much better today and has stopped limping! 🥰

Baby boy came limping up to me this morning 😭he was doing better a few hours later, but for today and probably tomorrow he's on rest in a run.
Hopefully tomorrow he'll be feeling much better and we'll get some practice in this week before the next show in 2 weeks.

Never did I ever expect to have a sore arm and shoulder from grooming 😂 but I guess that happens after doing the same motion for an hour and then some

Hitch got a good grooming today. He was shedding like crazy and I spent AT LEAST an hour brushing him out. Then he got a good bath in which he lost MORE hair. And finally he has his new fly mask on to help prevent him from getting sunburned.
I love this boy so much 🥰🥰

FINALLY got into the new saddle today and omg I LOVE IT! The stirrups are the right length, I feel like I can get my legs around better and cue better and I'm just so delighted that the investment has paid off!

Second show down! Got second in trail and uh... lots of OPs 😅 I thought we had our right leads down but turns out we missed most of them.
Next week is a break for us both and then back to the grind for the April show!

Won't be able to use it this weekend for the show, but next time!

We're a week out from the show! I am both horrified and (sorta) excited that I bought a saddle. It was so much more than I wanted to spend

YEP. And then you spend the rest of the day suffering the consequences of your body just forgetting how to function

Hitch and I didn't get to practice at all last week. Between bad weather and having some really bad muscle spasms, there just wasn't time.
My back is finally feeling better and the weather was really nice, so today we got to get back to work and had a really good practice!
