He also said 70 teachers from 44 districts "made statements" on Kirk's death and were investigated. Any "defamatory" or "egregious" comments made will prohibit anyone from teaching in Oklahoma, he wrote.

.@ryanwalterssupt.bsky.social says twelve Oklahoma Schools are β€œunder investigation” after not observing a moment of silence for #CharlieKirk Tuesday. His office did not name which districts, but both Tulsa and Union Public School Districts opted out of his mandate.

This comes after Walters said OSDE will investigate a Sand Springs teacher for posting β€œCharlie Kirk died the way he lived: bringing out the worst in people.” He also threatened the teaching licenses of school employees who β€œglorify this disgusting act of violence.”

Dear Superintendents and Staff,

In light of the recent tragedy, every school in Oklahoma will observe a moment of silence at 12:00 p.m. on September 16th to honor Charlie Kirk.

Charlie Kirk engaged in an open dialogue on ideas and on convincing individuals to have a conversation on American exceptionalism, Christianity's role in society and our country’s history, as well as conservative values. He challenged students to think for themselves, value free speech, and engage in meaningful debate.

This observance is an opportunity for our school communities to pause and reflect on his impact, as well as the vile act that took his life. Please provide your students with a respectful environment for reflection, and ensure that staff are prepared to lead with dignity and professionalism.

Thank you for your commitment to our students and for your leadership during this difficult time.
