I'm a strong believer that humans shouldn't have to tag their work, AI should, but here we are.
Having said that, yes. Yes I am very interested.

Yeah when I was a kid I would re-read it all the time.

#TBRuary finale. Old Favourite.
I have to, HAVE TO stop answering with HOUSE of Leaves, so instead I'll say I've been wanting to re-read a childhood favourite, Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede.
To me, it's the original cozy fantasy. If you have young girls in your life, get this book.

This challenge has taught me that I am SUCH a mood-reader. I don't pay attention to awards. Sorry.
But if I can, I would like to recommend Demon Copperhead, winner of several awards. It's a retelling of David Copperfield, which is a book I've never read, but I loved this re-imagining.

The Farseer Trilogy and its spinoffs are my best friend's favourite books.
I've gotten 50% into Assassin's Apprentice and I am so bored. I tried again and I got 52% percent. Still bored.
I'll try again, because they love them so much, and The Fool is great.

I know! I've yet to listen through the entire thing but what I've heard I liked a lot.
They're great live, too.
The cover for Wheelchair Seating for the Apocalypse with the text "when someone would ask me what I would do in case of zombies my immediate answer had always been Shoot myself in the head "
#horrorwriterschat
Thank you. This one made me think hard.
Wheelchair Seating for the Apocalypse is my most horrific horror. A woman in wheelchair makes cookies while zombies overrun her neighbourhood.

This one is a toughie. I even looked at other people's replies for examples.
I'm not into romance. Clipped was ripe for a love interest. I ripped her right out of the manuscript, trashed it. No romance for Zak.
In XYZ Phrae/Mel are just best friends until the end.
#HorrorWritersChat
I think a through-line in my horror is depression, and suicidal ideation. Sometimes a little bit of addiction, as a treat!
What makes me choose them? Probably because they're so omnipresent.
#horrorWritersChat
Characters in both Wheelchair Seating and XYZ are vague enough that they can be any race.
Gail from Clipped is half-Black, half-Chinese. She's an emissary and 2nd in command for a city of sin and depravity. She is meticulous and very good at her job.

I'm Kyew and I write dystopia, and dabble in horror.
It's not really a character but I am absolutely in love with the band Zeal and Ardor, which make music inspired by the idea that Black slaves accepted Satan instead of Jesus.

I never preorder books, I'm a library girlie through and through and prefer audiobooks.
But I'm very much looking forward to The Dragon Has Some Complaints by @wiswell.bsky.social
It just sounds like such a fun take on the dragonrider school premise.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.
All I know about it is that's about a heist and it's very popular.
I know I'm starting to sound redundant but it's intimidating!
I borrowed the audiobook off Libby TWICE, got about 3% in and knew it would wreck me so I'm scared but I wanna read it so bad.

...it was "What if β¨Society???β¨ and that happened to an individual. Well, guess I need an individual now..."
And THEN I shoved OCs at him, hahahah!
"But Deia, who exists, and only exists, to be the main protagonist of Exocoetus, isn't an OC."
Same with Zak, the protag of Clipped. Clipped started with a thesis, and of course I needed a character with which to explore that thesis, but it was never "Here's my character who ____" It was...
I agree, calling the protagonists and antagonists and various supporting characters "OCs" feels...ephemeral?
Sure some started as OCs... and some didn't.
