Donald Trump's attempt to kill congestion pricing just failed in court — and in spectacular fashion.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The cameras are staying on.
Judge Lewis Liman (brother of Doug Liman) has ruled that the federal government can‘t unilaterally end congestion pricing, giving the MTA yet another court win on congestion pricing

03.03.2026 16:45 — 👍 9 🔁 3 💬 1 📌 0there is an entire infrastructure of rentable bikes that me, as a bike rider with a personal bike, will never engage with. I never have my helmet on me, and the quality of cycling is so low that it is extremely unsafe to ride these without a helmet. we could be like france or spain but sorry, cars!

When will the Fourth Ave bike lane reach Cannonball Park?
How soon will the Cropsey and Neptune avenues gap in the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway be closed?
Asking for lesser result filled District 47
You could make the same case re buses btw. For example, have we seen improved bus performance in the Jay St and Flushing Main St busways (which tend to feature a lot of cars that don't belong there) since "faster bus" mayor took over?
03.03.2026 15:34 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yes, impact of inflation/high costs would be a great point (actually for DOT) to raise. Also changing costs/mile for various project approaches, whether DOT is taking a look/action to reduce costs etc

We'll see if it comes up (some Council members ride bikes!), but questions in this vein for the Commissioner would be:
- Have you met with PD commissioner Tisch?
- Do you anticipate working w NYPD to keep #bikenyc clear?
- Does DOT study blockage of 🚲 lanes - chronic locations etc?
Debate over the NYC street plan is largely a numbers game, which distracts from the low quality of cycling. NYC 🚲 lanes, once built, are subject to chronic blockage by 🚘 & 🚛
That's a much higher deterrent to winning new riders than whether DOT does 18 vs 25 mi of new lanes in a given year #bikenyc
Probably won’t come up, but “chronically blocked/parked in bike lanes“ would actually get to the root of the half-assed state of bike transportation in NYC

Prof. Robert Pape:
"I have studied every air campaign since WWI... I've modelled the bombing of Fordow and regime change in Iran for 20 years... We are now in the grip of the escalation trap... This has never worked in over 100 years... Trump is up against the weight of history".
Trump wants regime change and really hopes Iranians will do it for him, but the only help he’s offering is magical thinking.

Just finished a discussion with @timothysnyder.bsky.social
about the political implications and possible causes of Trump’s decision to bomb Iran. It’s important not to normalise the discussion of what is happening.

Looks like the US has a great deal to learn about anti-drone defense. What has the Pentagon been doing for the last year. Did they prepare for this?

They did take a while building a huge new (and excellent/super successful) rail line under that axis. So finally the huge volume of buses can go away. Cars were already mostly banned
But to your point, we already have a rail line under Broadway! And buses haven't used that part of Bway since 2009
5 years is a good project. Remember Flushing Ave?
27.02.2026 16:04 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0A normal city would pedestrianize Broadway and have early morning truck delivery hours. But that would require traffic/parking rules enforcement 🤷

The city can veto state DOT highway plans within the 5 boroughs. Dunno if anyone knows this
“Such designs, plans, specifications and estimates of costs shall require the approval of the city”

This is an awful project and it's not getting nearly the attention it deserves because it's the Bronx
