The 2nd Ave. subway is of course near and dear to my heart and infamous in NYC history, but the IBX is the most transformative NYC transit project in our lives. We should of course always demand more transit, but it's good to be excited for this one.

A map showing the ETA's proposal for the now confirmed All Faiths Cemetery Tunnel on the IBX
Today Hochul and the MTA confirmed that the planned end-to-end runtime of the IBX has been cut a full 10 min (down to 32min), and projected ridership is up 41k to 160k/day.
This is the power of grade separation and the All Faiths tunnel.
Kudos to the Gov and MTA!

Compare different sites along Bway - Times Sq was rebuilt in stone & concrete in a few years but it took massive intervention by multiple commissioners & senior people to make it happen. Meanwhile, not a shovel has hit the ground for redesigns 1st implemented in Madison Sq (2008) or Herald Sq (2009)

City Commits $45 Million to Redo Dangerous Three-Way Intersection in The Bronx
The street reconstruction contract comes 17 years and three mayoral administrations after the fix was first proposed.
I don't know exactly where the line is between laws requiring certain procurement processes & SOPs, but the SOPs absent anyone in leadership driving the process can be incredibly slow www.thecity.nyc/2025/07/29/e...

B. RILEY, on jobs:
โ.. unambiguously soft and a reflection of the trade and tariff impact on economic growth. .. The three-month average coming to todayโs report was 150 thousand. The new three-month average of job creation is now 80 thousand. Not great news.โ

Unsurprising bad jobs report. Just 73,000 added in July, and most of those were health care.
Even worse, May and June jobs numbers revised down by 258,000. Awful.
Companies don't want to create jobs in Trump's chaos economy with weakening rule of law and rampant corruption.

EPA moves to end climate regulation under Clean Air Act
The agency proposal would rescind the landmark โendangerment finding,โ which states that greenhouse gases are a threat to public health.
This was announced as 150 million people across the country were under heat alerts.
Fossil fuel interests spent nearly $100 million on Trump's re-election. Then the industry pumped $19 million into his inaugural fund.

Lander finished the ranked-choice process with 151,463 votes, and he ranked second on 308,683 Mamdani ballots.
That adds up to a minimum of 460,146 votes cast for Lander in the primary.
Andrew Cuomo's final round tally was 443,229, nearly seventeen thousand less.
