With prices soaring, eggs have been reported stolen from porches and farm stands. At one point, federal agents at the border were seizing eggs more often than fentanyl.
Then, earlier this year, a Maryland sheriffβs office learned about a $100,000 egg heist β complete with a ransom note.
I am watching The Outsider. Since Dark, I have not enjoyed something in this flavour until now. Tremendous.

This is basically a rewritten press release. Would be fantastic to know how the trust is set up. I always smell machinations with big corporates...

This is progress, but whether or when the South African government will use these provisions remains to be seen.
#ExpropriationBill
Up to now, government has chosen a "willing buyer, willing seller" approach, paying at or even above market price. It need not do so. The Act gives some examples of cases where no or limited compensation should be paid.
#ExpropriationBill
For our first BlueSky post, it is appropriate that we begin with South Africa's newly signed Expropriation Act. South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has today signed into law the Expropriation Bill, which repeals the pre-democratic Expropriation Act of 1975. However...

13.12.2024 11:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The cover of issue 185 of The Continent is an illustration by Ethiopian cartoonist Yemsrach Yetneberk. It depicts two French soldiers, one a standard-bearer, walking away from the graves of the tirailleurs, West African riflemen. The riflemen, who were part of the Second World War effort were not acknowledged by France and were killed when they demanded fair wages when they returned to Senegal. On the ground is the Senegalese flag, demarcated like a roadway with the green, yellow and red stripes with a green star in the middle of the yellow stripe. The words "Revenge of the tirailleurs" are written in the top lefthand corner beneath the words "'The Continent"

Welcome to Issue 185 of The Continent
France isn't having a great month. This week, its government collapsed. And last week, not one but two of its former African colonies told it to get lost. A lot of western analysts are blaming Russia. This misses the point.

Incredible. The film history itself feels like this was created by at least six producers. The writing, cinematography - pretty much everything about it - was executed to perfection. For women who have been on the verge of madness, and men witnessing it. Heart wrenching.

I will say as a Jew and a rabbi that this is a profound desecration of the holy and of history.
On top of all the other atrocities and harms.
