He's walking a fine line with the approval of US forces using UK bases to stage attacks on Iran missile launcher positions, flipping that old saying into "the best defense is a good offense". I'm not yet convinced it is the best course of action.

The US (and UK) started this war 70 years ago.

We're told the world will be a safer place without Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. (It's not. He's already been replaced.) Well, the same can be said of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin, but they too can be replaced just as quickly. How do we get off this treadmill?

...but paying for all of it at the high price of whichever source is most expensive, regardless of how little of that source is used. It's time to fix that.

Canada’s largest AI data centre proposed in rural Alberta | The Narwhal Proponents of the $10-billion project plan to build an AI data centre that would consume as much power as the city of Edmonton

We don't need this. It will burn enough natural gas to power a city of 1.2 million people.

Meanwhile, over in York UK, Drax wants to power a data center by burning enough *forest ground into wood pellets* to power a city of 850,000.

This is madness.

How did Ivory Coast and Ghana's cocoa sales crisis come about? The producers of half the world's cocoa - Ivory Coast and Ghana - have struggled to sell beans and pay farmers this year due to ample global harvests, lower cocoa prices and falling demand from chocol...

Chocolatiers wasted no time raising prices when cocoa prices tripled. Let's see how long it takes for their prices to come back down now that cocoa prices have dropped 75% due to a supply glut.

The Race to Protect 30%

With less than five years to go, Canada is less than halfway to its 30x30 target. Very few countries are on track. Biodiversity loss is the most urgent threat we face because once it is lost there is no way to replace it.

I think they do. I think that when Trump left the G7 in Alberta a day early for no particular reason, the remaining adults in the room hatched the plan to cut the US out of global supply chains. Canada has made trade deals with 42 countries since then. US trade deficit has doubled in one year.

He is so reliably untrustworthy that to see the truth all you need to do is repeat the opposite of everything he says in your mind while he blathers. It's oddly comforting, and will be clarifying for all who feel obligated to watch whatever SOTU nonsense he has teed up.

We're all used to asking our mobile device to make a photo look like it was painted by van Gogh or, say, Fred Varley. But somebody used AI to do the reverse! Open both images then click back and forth. It's truly impressive.

I fear that all these warehouses DHS wants to buy are for the internment of Muslims and political dissidents after Trump starts a war with Iran.

I watched Sarah Hughes win that gold while sitting in a Steamboat CO bar, stranded there by a snow storm in the way of my travels, with a couple of grizzled 5th generation ranchers who were tickled pink by her win. It was really cool.

I have a sinking feeling the looming war with Iran is the excuse Trump will use to lock up Muslims and political dissidents in all those warehouses the DHS is shopping for. I sure hope I am wrong.
