No. Peter Thiel cannot be allowed to annex the National Science Foundation via this Palantir proxy.

It would be like putting a pyromaniac in charge of the Library of Alexandria: destruction of a global treasure with no "undo" button.

This is a "to the barricades" moment.

our listening isn't contingent on *him* per se (although did cover up a murder while he was a mayor) but on the quality of his "ideas and criticism" and NOPE ... just NOPE

he's an oligarch-serving bullshit artist

the word "shock" still doesn't come close to the feelings I have whenever I see overhead pictures of the WH

I mean, wouldn't one normally get dragged behind a pickup truck with a meathook if they'd done this to the East Wing?

I'm the only Democrat who has won a statewide race β€” not once, but twice β€” in the last 20 years.

Maine people know me. They know that unlike Susan Collins, I've got the backbone to stand up to the President, and that I'll always put them first.

N@#i antisemite isn't the only issue -- it's also the terrible judgment, lack of self-awareness, and non-existent track-record (aside form using the right "words", which anyone can do)

but I'm sure "straw man" Grim's principles will lead us to the right conclusions

GLP-1 medications get at the heart of addiction: study Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have shown in a new study that GLP-1 medications, typically used for diabetes and weight loss, may be effective at treating and pre...

GLP-1 drugs offer an incredible opportunity for addiction treatment. These drugs pull some kind of a whammy on our brain's reward circuits like nothing else. We would never even have them without two curious scientists pulling at a weird thread in their research:

I can't imagine how insane it's going to be to have Mullin as DHS Secretary. He makes Noem look like the real professional by comparison. Unreal.

Obviously, this really doesn't make much of a difference since Stephen Millier is running the department but still ... what a choice.

So, in English: Noem is fired and will be demoted to running point on Trump's spin on the Monroe Doctrine, where he's going to try and keep Latin American countries from building relationships with China.

A traffic violence story doesn't get more American than this.

A man whose wife was killed crossing the street advocated for a signal and was later killed at the same intersection himself.

Neighbors have been asking for a traffic signal there for 40(!) years.

The cover of "Get Your War On", by David Rees, with an introduction by Matt Taibbi.

Just ordered a copy of this, partly to stay sane, but mostly to remind me how this terrible American degeneracy didn't start with Trump and that the Americans you know who support Trump have been baking in nauseating civic illiteracy for decades.

And, Matt Taibbi (asshole!), how far you've fallen!

I think the bad news for the Left (and also the country) is that the AOC (or whoever) administration in 2029 is just going to be catastrophically constrained by the budget when they come into office.

This maniacs have left absolutely no maneuvering room.

it's critically important for Democratic leadership to create and foster the frame that Republicans are the party of cultural vandalism and can't be trust to serve the public in any capacity

There we were, 7 flight attendants, 2 pilots, and 2 passengers. The pilot addressed us by our last names and read us basketball playoffs scores. The bursar told us she had *never* seen this before, and that in 20 years of flying she hadn't even heard of it happening. (3/4)

After getting dinner at the Logan Legal Seafood, went to the gate to doze off and wait. Flight was on time, but no one was at the gate but me and *one other guy*. Apparently everyone else had opted for the 5:30. So, they upgraded us to 1st class, on a new 777 (so wide-bodied). (2/4)

Took a mundane flight from Boston to San Francisco in the late 90s, to visit my grandparents. There were 2 flights, one at 5:30 PM, the other at 7 PM. I had booked second flight. Desk invited me to get on the 5:30 but I would have arrived too early for a pickup. So I stayed on the 7 PM flight. (1/4)
