I think this is part of why I like the Mike Flanagan shows so much (Haunting of Hill House, Fall of the House of Usher, etc). He's true to the source material while still telling a completely new story.

This is something I've always believed. I've never been a purist when it comes to adaptations, because what's the point of adapting something if it's exactly like what came before?

Be true to the themes, the vibe, to something - but show me something new.
