Dreamed I was doing laundry in an apartment building. Pretty boring I guess, but I did see a picture of a horse in a tree.

My thoughtful wife often wakes me up if she gets the sense that I’m struggling or afraid in a dream, but after this experience, I’m going to have to instruct her to refrain from ever doing so again, for fear that she might accidentally rip me out of a dream as rich as this.

Well… Back to it.

There were NPCs as well, we’ll-acted, and perfectly designed from a gameplay perspective. One woman dropped off a clue in the form of a “missing” poster I was to hang in the shop window. As she left, I made to go after her, but she sternly gestured for me to stay in the shop and read the clue. 5?/?

There were perspective shifts, but they weren’t random like most of my dreams. They felt poignant and scripted, directed at teasing out the larger mystery with perfect pacing.

Unlike most of my dreams, the narrative and POV were remarkably coherent. It featured.incredible on-theme set-pieces, like one where my character was drugged and had a mindbending fever dream filled with cryptic clues and guiding narration. It had mirror gags, a musical number (a la Alan Wake 2) 3/?

It was a noir detective story with a Wes Anderson colour palette. I, the new employee of a curiosity shop, was uncovering the mystery of a shrivelled old chrome who lived in the shop’s mirror, a sinister presence somehow tied to the shop’s mysterious owner. 2/?

Stayed up too late playing Blue Prince for the first time and it has led to me just waking up from a dream I worry might be the most interesting, fun, well-produced (?) dream I’ll ever have. It bore very tonal similarity to Blue Prince, but I can’t deny that the one inspired the other. 1/?
