Broadly speaking they’re right that we have to focus on winning but the obvious exception is the guy with the evil skull tattoo that gives Fetterman vibes.

It is 100% Biden backlash. They are fighting the last war which is old people losing bc old and them getting beat over the head by Biden people for speaking out. They’re missing the bigger picture.

I don’t generally care for the memeification of war (tho it’s here to stay) and I hate the after-the-fact justification for this conflict as fighting Beijing’s partners but the above video will keep the PLAN up at night.

Workforce expectations, change in capital access post WWII, change to costs in production in the US vs elsewhere, the requirements for modern warships and exquisite systems vs the SS we built this yesterday, drops in Production rate demands.

Look the USG is good for doing things industry won’t do otherwise (take care of people, pave roads, invest in critical minerals, etc).

But when you want scale and a lot of people and money to appear quickly, call industry.

USG is not going to pay GS-15+ equivalent salaries to every new 5-10X engineer who can solve your design problem. Certainly not thousands of them.

The public shipyards suck and don’t get the job done. The govt facilities that build some of the other things are also terribly slow and inefficient. It won’t actually be at equivalent cost. You’d also lose a lot of talent bc the public/congress expect these folks to be paid less on taxpayer dime
