My entire career is Mad Libs. There’s no part of my life that doesn’t sound fake.

We are doing THE PITT commentary this week and our guest is going to suffer it.

The US every time someone comes up with a new tactic that doesn’t match their idea of combat:

05.03.2026 02:32 β€” πŸ‘ 27    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The problem with Americans and doctrine isn’t that we don’t read it. It’s that we’ve become so self assured we’re convinced nobody else can think of and employ a good idea.

05.03.2026 02:29 β€” πŸ‘ 36    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Like we literally remade this thing and renamed it LUCAS and we’re like β€œhuh we had no idea.”

05.03.2026 02:26 β€” πŸ‘ 29    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

β€œWe had no idea the drone we cloned because we thought it would be cheap and good and confounding for the enemy would also be cheap and confounding for us.”

Even tho we have years of data from Ukraine that says just that.

And the threat color chart

04.03.2026 23:02 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

whether this idiot war is legal under US domestic law/Art I (and for that matter international law via the UN Charter) is a very different discussion than whether an act was a LOAC violation given a state of hostilities practically exists between the US and Iran

It’s just everyone being panicked and dumb.

Broadly speaking they’re right that we have to focus on winning but the obvious exception is the guy with the evil skull tattoo that gives Fetterman vibes.

04.03.2026 22:42 β€” πŸ‘ 27    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

It is 100% Biden backlash. They are fighting the last war which is old people losing bc old and them getting beat over the head by Biden people for speaking out. They’re missing the bigger picture.

I would just quit after this.

Sure. Just that "LLMs are not good for my thing" is a totally valid position for someone to hold, but "LLMs are not good for any thing, and the whole buzz around them is fake" is not really sustainable anymore

Being aware of a cape and watching us use it live when you consume a bunch of propaganda are two very different things

04.03.2026 19:30 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 1

I don’t generally care for the memeification of war (tho it’s here to stay) and I hate the after-the-fact justification for this conflict as fighting Beijing’s partners but the above video will keep the PLAN up at night.

We now go live to Beijing for a reaction.

Workforce expectations, change in capital access post WWII, change to costs in production in the US vs elsewhere, the requirements for modern warships and exquisite systems vs the SS we built this yesterday, drops in Production rate demands.

Look the USG is good for doing things industry won’t do otherwise (take care of people, pave roads, invest in critical minerals, etc).

But when you want scale and a lot of people and money to appear quickly, call industry.

04.03.2026 15:25 β€” πŸ‘ 18    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

USG is not going to pay GS-15+ equivalent salaries to every new 5-10X engineer who can solve your design problem. Certainly not thousands of them.

04.03.2026 15:23 β€” πŸ‘ 13    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The public shipyards suck and don’t get the job done. The govt facilities that build some of the other things are also terribly slow and inefficient. It won’t actually be at equivalent cost. You’d also lose a lot of talent bc the public/congress expect these folks to be paid less on taxpayer dime

This is like a DIV-equivalent level lift from breaching to escort and security with limited available resources for certain mission tasks.

04.03.2026 02:54 β€” πŸ‘ 62    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

lol if they really did this without planning and resourcing a country-wide C-WMD recovery mission. Good lord it’s gonna be ugly.
