A small (four inches long) whiptail lizard is catching some sun on a concrete patio on this late October day. The lizard has light brown stripes running from head to tail on its dark brown body.

Next year I will likely work to grow more veg volume so I can donate more food to my local mutual aid projects. But my native spaces are a way to give back to land that was never really mine, and honor our natural habitat, albeit in a small way. I believe that it matters. 🌱
