This is good! As Julia writes in the article, we donβt know whether the Senate will also pass it. Hopefully they will.
But even if not, this is a blow to the Speakerβs authority and a fracture within the Republican ranks.
Clearly in my feels on this one: I'd love to see the outpouring of media and interest for state schools being stripped of academic freedom the way we breathlessly looked at funding coersion against the ivies. Florida, Ohio, and Texas educate exponentially more students.

We in the legal profession really need to have a moment of introspection about how our commitment to "civility" above all else didn't just enable everything we're seeing now, it helped *cause* it.
Some arguments should not be met with civility. Sometimes civility only serves oppression.

22.07.2025 13:11 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The Perseids are back β and every color tells us what they're made of! Every summer, Earth drifts through the dusty trail of Comet Swift-Tuttle β and the result is one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year: the Perseids. Peaking in mid-August and active right now, this shower can produce up to 75 meteors per hour under dark skies. But hereβs what makes them even more amazing: each meteorβs color reveals what itβs made of. As the meteors blaze through Earthβs atmosphere at over 130,000 mph, they burn up in brilliant flashes of different colors β and those colors reveal what elements are inside: π΄ Red = Oxygen & Nitrogen π‘ Yellow-Gold = Iron π£ Violet = Calcium π Orange = Sodium π΅ Teal/Blue-Green = Magnesium The Perseids are active from July 17 to August 24, with peak nights around August 12β13. Even with some moonlight, itβs still one of the best times to look up. Find a dark sky, let your eyes adjust, and enjoy one of the best sights of the year!
