Governance structure:
• Governing Board — Led by the President and Vice Presidents, guiding IAVS direction
• Council — ~40 members elected for 4-year terms, advising on decisions and holding the Board accountable
• General Assembly — Held annually at the symposium

Working Groups & Regional Sections focus on scientific themes and geographic collaboration—like the Ecoinformatics WG or the European Vegetation Survey—helping members contribute to collective efforts and applied research

Special Committees are formed as needed. For example:
• Carbon Footprint Special Committee — Establishes IAVS’s environmental impact baseline
• Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee — Champions inclusivity and visibility

• Meetings Committee — Organizes symposia and excursions
• Membership Committee — Grows and enriches membership
