Ebert said you do not cry unless a film frees itself from its origins and enters into your own heart. Itβs true.

07.08.2025 21:25 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was yet another brilliant lead to new material from Backlisted. So appreciated. For anyone with access, in the US on Criterion Channel is the movie version of A Taste of Honey along with a 15 minute Shelagh Delaney interview.

24.07.2025 19:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I grew up in the 60s, so Dr Who was a slightly haunting window into a different world. Its atmospherics were like being allowed by our parents to watch, say, Callan. After the first 5 or so doctors that quality seemed to go away but of course I also was moving on.

Never been more relevant, sixty years on.
Iβve seen plenty of bad policy in my time but these guys - Ackman, Bessent, Navarro, Miran etc - are all either certifiably insane or making a good fist of pretending to be.
09.04.2025 20:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0At times like this I occasionally hold my nose and enter the Fox News website. There are ten trivial and partisan βstoriesβ before tariffs are mentioned. And then it is β¦ βWin-Win. Former Reagan economic adviser says world will prosper out of Trump tariffsβ. MAGA base continues to get fed BS.
09.04.2025 00:31 β π 31 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well look the so-called tariff charged calculation is total BS.
Bangladesh for example gets a 37% rate not as a quid pro quo for tariffing the US but because some US firms take advantage of ultra cheap labor there to make stuff and sell it huge mark up in the US. So, whatβs to negotiate?!
What a great sound. Not unlike The Go-Betweens?
