Hopefully, yes. Like most large birds of prey, ospreys exhibit ‘natal philopatry’ ie once they’re old enough to breed, they tend to nest close to where they were born. Won’t be for a few years though as they don’t start breeding usually until they’re 3 years old.

Dear @greenparty.org.uk. What on earth do your MPs think they’re doing by voting in favour of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill? It is a developers charter for ecological destruction. At the same time you’re running a nature in crisis campaign. You’re giving out seriously mixed messages here.

Now need to start work on preventing the disastrous Planning and Infrastructure Billcoming into law without significant amendment. Essentially a developers charter to destroy wildlife in the name of growth.

Fine words but you still voted in favour of the Bill which is proposing a complete dismantling of the elements of the planning system that protect wildlife. I’ve voted Green Party for most of my voting life but now find myself politically homeless.

Try and time your walk up and back with low tide. Much easier walking along solid sand than shingle!

Wonder what the logic of that is. Presumably domestic birds could still be shot. Maybe wild status signifies no ownership therefore no culpability if pheasants damage cars or cause accidents?

From what I remember it diverted a lot of energy from doing actual conservation work to sitting in meetings and writing action plans. Remember one particularly painful meeting at Suffolk County Council when an hour was spent deciding what sort of paper to print the plans on!

This is the sort of ill-informed and sloppy reporting that drives me (and probably other ecologists) mad. Three common pipistrelles were recorded roosting in the building. Low level of use, easy mitigation outlined in the EIA. Will it sink the pool plan? No. Does it give bats a bad rap? Yes.

I know. I remember the days when you could park free of charge at Lady Anne’s Drive in the winter because there were so few visitors it wasn’t worth collecting the parking fees!
