Osprey Project Nest Platforms and Cameras After such a successful Osprey season in 2025 with 2 nesting Osprey pairs on the south coast and 6(!) chicks fledged, we're looking ahead to build new nesting platforms and installing remote cameras! ...

Great to be out maintaining our Osprey platforms and cameras around the harbour this AM in perfect conditions. Fingers crossed for plenty of sightings and who knows, maybe some of our youngsters from previous years taking an interest…

Incredible ringing recovery this AM by Stour Ringing Group of a Kestrel caught near Arne which was carrying a Dutch ring and a sat-tag. Well done for getting the data so quickly. Amazing movement for a bird that typically isn’t considered to move large distances. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

Lapwing at Lodmoor, looking smart in a rare spell of sunshine earlier this week.

Holes Bay has seen a dramatic change over the last 30 yrs. From toxic ‘no-go’ zone to one of the best areas to witness one of Poole Harbours main SPA features (winter bird assemblages). Winter low-tides can be spectacular. These Avocet were just 10m off the cycle path! @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

We’ve been out prepping and servicing various Osprey nests around the harbour (more on that later) but massive thanks to the RSPB Arne team who allowed us to install a camera on a favoured perch for migrant Ospreys so we can read ring numbers. Raven said hello today! @rspbengland.bsky.social

This 1st winter (?) Little Gull turned up at Lytchett Fields RSPB just as the sun briefly came out. It stuck around for over an hour and was joined for 10 mins or so by this adult (?)
