- 240k+ posts (Twitter/X & Facebook) from all members of the 19th German Bundestag
- Named entity recognition + Wikidata linkage to identify places mentioned by MPs
- Distance-based measures to constituencies and access to public services for identified places

Key Findings:
- Directly elected MPs mention places in and closer to their constituencies
- They mention more deprived places (= lack of access to services) within their districts than list MPs
- Taken together: Mandate mode matters for geographic representation in online communication

Memes, humor, & the far right’s strategic mainstreaming

Analyzing 1,200 memes from f-r Telegram 2020-21, we find that while far-right narratives & humor individually limit a meme's reach, their combination significantly boosts visibility.

How is the level of nonstandard dialect in regions associated with voting for the radical right in Germany? In a new paper, D. Ziblatt, H. Hilbig, and @danbischof.bsky.social investigate this question and use data from the GLES Panel for their individual-level analyses: doi.org/10.1017/S000...
