There were skeptics when I published my piece on the alleged time traveller “Morphy Richards” from 2030. To prove he was genuine he offered 3 shocking predictions:

• Kat cheating on Alfie in Eastenders
• An Oasis reunion
• Donald Trump behaving “rather foolishly”.

Beale’s popularity in Estonia is a mystery but one sociologist/soap expert thought it was down to his hard working nature (the character was a market trader), the way he looked after his family and his valiant battles against Pat Butcher and Wilmott-Brown.

Estonia’s 18th annual Pete Beale lookalike contest takes place on Wednesday. Pete Beale (played by Peter Dean) featured in Eastenders from 1985-1993 and the character is said to have gained popularity and developed into a folk hero in parts of Estonia after constant repeats of the soap.
