I know this is hardly a novel thought, but when I hear “artificial intelligence” dozens of times a day, I can’t help but feel that we all bungled this thing right out of the gate by stipulating facts not in evidence and allowing it to be framed as “intelligence.” Branding is everything.

Something which tech companies know only took well. It's the greatest scam of the modern age.

We've had complicated algorithms in software for decades; visual filters, spellcheck, grammar check… it's not "intelligence".

Even generative "AI" is bullshit; it just repackages other people's work.

If I was @zackpolanski.bsky.social, I would be pointing out to the BBC that whatever model they use to justify giving Farage & his boot-lickers season tickets for every BBC show under the sun must surely now treat Green Party politicians in exactly the same way. I was about to say "if you're not paying for the service, the product is YOU" - Windows having become easily and legally obtainable for free - but of course, Linux is open source and also free. But generally, the maxim applies. Microsoft have become yet another PID mining monstrosity.
