Muchova wins another tournament, AT LAST, and it's a big one. I'm so happy for her 🧑

O me of little faith πŸ₯Ή Muchova was amazing, start to finish

The "l'oeuf" idea is probably a folk etymology, a fun idea but with no historical evidence for it. "Love" has had this meaning in English since at least 1742, for a score of 0 in whist, then it spread to other games, including rugby, tennis, bridge, etc. (according to the OED)

Much more straightforward in the end than I feared

I cannot rule out Sakkari winning the next 6

It's not always pretty but this is a gripping semi, with both players zoning and unravelling in turn

Hoping hard for a Muchova win but can't see either of these two beating Mboko in current form

Some superb tennis in this Mboko vs Andreeva match

One of my favourite early internet memes (the Numa Numa lipsync). It's a ridiculously catchy song

Siniakova cruised through in the end, 6-4, 6-1. Tauson was spraying errors but Siniakova chased everything and kept her unsettled. She'll play Raducanu or Osorio in R2

Siniakova up a set and a break (*2-1) against Tauson in Doha, drops a 40-0 lead and absolutely slams her racquet (safely)

It worked. She got the next 2 points then comfortably broke Tauson again #WTA

Comeback Queens Some players like Barbora Krejcikova have mastered how to return from injuries, while others like Zheng Qinwen are discovering it. Here they share the experience.

I talked to Zheng Qinwen & Barbora Krejcikova in Doha about their comeback from injuries.Zheng on how she cried & wondered why it was happening (but also watching lot of tennis)& Krejcikova on patience & hope. Also asked Barbora about doubles w/ Siniakova. tennissweetspot.substack.com/p/comeback-q...

Long rallies too. The ATP will froth over some 30-shot rally and it's two pushers playing pat-a-cake

I did not give Patrick Mouratoglou credit for one point of Serena's success and his main crime was being a complete dickhead
We are not obligated to give any credit to that man in Elena's box at all
Any success she has is in spite of him, she overcomes him

60% - Elena Rybakina (60.0%, 9-6) now holds the highest winning percentage against the WTA #1 since the rankings were first published in 1975 - minimum 10 meetings. Unreal.

Neither player was consistently near their best, but the shot-making was intense and the drama was high. Made for a cracking final, especially with the wild shifts in momentum

Delighted for Rybakina. This and the WTA Finals make it feel like she's properly back now #AusOpen

This assumes that the women who said he beat them up would have avoided it if they'd stood up to him. Which assumes they didn't. You're victim-blaming.
