Doesn‘t really appeal to me that much. The whole hardware thing is a big one for me. I probably would have switched long ago if other hardware didn’t feel like replacing my hand with a bad prosthetic .

I can’t work with a mouse, these big, smooth, super responsive touchpads are really important, 2) the synchronization over various devices and easy plug and play. I guess the closer a product

You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

The "publish or perish" culture must perish. Scientists need time to think.
We just published our Slow Science Manifesto, where we argue that huge changes are needed in the way we fund, publish, and evaluate science.

Let's say, hypothetically, I would manage to wean myself off Apple products in the next five years. Windows is not an option, obviously, Linux yes.
Where would I start looking for a laptop computer in terms of sustainability, haptics in hardware, speed, compatibility with screens, printers...?

Please support the petition against the planned #closure of #Archaeology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Archaeology has been a part of Humboldt-Universität academic tradition for almost 200 years, so closing it would break a long-standing research tradition

I like how social media enables scientists to actively dispel popular myths & misconceptions about our research. As an illustration, here’s my thread on why there’s no such thing as a “gene for language”... 🧪 1/9

See how this single cognitive process or brain area or neural oscillation or gene explains language! Based on the shapes of these old bones, Homo erectus could sing .... don't @ me. A baby looked at one thing more than the other, now we know the secret to grammar. If you think about it, every language is fundamentally the same, amirite? We taught a load of undergrads a made-up language, lol. On the staggering diversity of the many languages across the world. Remember the thing you said only humans could do, here's a video of a monkey / dolphin / corvid / octopus / honeybee doing it. lateinische Buchstabe.
