Don’t call them federal agents. Call them what they are. Trump’s gestapo.

The days are definitely getting shorter, but sunsets in the morning is crazy.

Didn’t this guy recently express regret for voting for Trump? At what point are guys like this going to come to the realization that maybe they just have really bad judgement?

At least you’ve got a government that really cares about saving it…
Never mind.

The thing that helps is that his shot is not broken. He’s not going to shoot 40% from 3 this year, but he’s enough of a threat you can’t leave him alone like you can Poeltl.

The fact he doesn’t know it’s the premier of Ontario says pretty much all we need to know about his competence.

I haven’t gone onto the ESPN website in literally years.

If you watched it, it’s in the context of being only five games into the season. They have to release content.

Ah. That makes sense now. Morant wasn’t being an immature and petulant. He was being thoughtful and kind by trying to get reporters to go to the press conference for his coach so the coach would have reporters there.

And intriguing question for Raptor fans, is should they have kept Davion Mitchell and traded away IQ? Mitchell is the point-of-attack defender the Raptors sorely lack, and, quite frankly, is shooting better than IQ so far (although that will likely not last long).

I’ve always found superstitions a weird peak inside the psyche of humans. People are so desperate to feel like they have some control that they ignore the fact that literally tens of thousands of people will be attending, but some want to believe that they will have an effect on the outcome.

The last Blue Jays game I attended in person was Game 5 of the 1992 World Series. Unfortunately it was a loss, but they won the next game and I walked a packed Yonge Street from Queen to Eglinton in scene and atmosphere I will never forget.

That would be great, but until then, journalists are losing their jobs and things like climate changes government neglect, corruption and oppression are not being investigated and reported.

How do you compensate those providing the information if everyone gets it free? How do you prevent those who are providing it from losing their jobs? I get that there are many corporations you can blame for a lot of things, but blame must be passed around.

And there are news organization that are paid by tax dollars as well. In the digital age, this might be the only way we can pay for real journalism.

The thing is that we are still feeling the growing pains from the advent of the internet. Does it make sense that the number of actual journalist has been more than cut in half in the last 20 years? We are in an age when people want content free or next to nothing and those making it are suffering.

28.10.2025 20:28 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And most β€œindependent journalists” are simply news aggregators who don’t;t actually investigate the news, just report what journalists from actual news organizations have written.

28.10.2025 20:25 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Ground News doesn’t do journalism. They direct you to news organizations. And independent journalists are great, but they simply don’t have the legal or travel budget to do investigative journalism, which is necessary in a democracy.

28.10.2025 20:21 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Asking for donations is not really a sustainable business model for a medium to large sized news organization, which is required for a healthy democracy. Independent journalists can certainly do that, but that doesn’t give them a legal and travel budget that is really necessary to investigate.

28.10.2025 20:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe you can explain how you can pay for journalists when the news is free. I’m not making up the rules. Just stating facts.

28.10.2025 04:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

That’s where public broadcasters come in. But I’m not the one who created this problem. I’m simply describing what has happened. Free news via the internet has put thousands and thousands of journalists out of jobs, causing there to be fewer of them to investigate and report the news.

28.10.2025 04:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Free libraries doesn’t have a negative impact on society and democracy. Quite the opposite. Making the news free causes countless journalists to lose their jobs because there isn’t enough money to pay them, meaning fewer trained people to cover stories and uncover corruption/crimes, etc.

28.10.2025 04:35 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Actually, there are several reasons. One is the fact the internet has made people think they should be able to get their news for free (thanks to Google, etc).

Unfortunately, it’s not just newspapers, at least here in Canada. Even television news, especially local, has been gutted. That’s bad for democracy. β€œCitizen journalists” do not make up for it because they tend to be unreliable, fractured and biased.

Thankfully, things like poverty, hunger and affordable health care have been solved, so you might as well spend that money on something.

I’m not a huge fan of Anthony, but he can certainly play and was far too good to be waived by a team that isn’t tanking.

I have one question for the BC Conservative MLA who has quit the party because of what she categorized as deep misogyny: did you really not notice the misogyny before???
