When you see a smooth curve like that around the radar site, dry air is usually in place.
You can see the steadier snow staying south toward Mankato and Rochester. 2-4β down there.
Up to an inch in the metro. Could be enough for a couple slick roads by midday Saturday.
Future snowfall map showing around 2" of snow in Minneapolis.
Snow potential for Saturday looks like it'd start around 10am-ish and light-moderate snow through afternoon, wrapping up later. That's using the high-res NAM model, which gives us about 2" of snow. European gives us about 1" with most south of Minneapolis. It'll be light, long, and annoying. #MNWX

Buckle up Saturday around MSP and between I-94 corridor and Minnesota River Valley. βοΈβοΈ
Snow starts early. A band of 2" to 5" looks likely with local 6"+ totals possible.
Temps in the 20s means slick roads.
Still 15 hours to plan accordingly!

Heads up Twin Cities.
Saturday snow tracking further north on today's forecast models.
That would put MSP area in at least 1"-3" snow zone with higher totals possible.
Expect a snowy Saturday starting in the morning!

NEW FROM ME: The deportation plane stuck in the blizzard took off this morning after 31 hours, but not before exposing a much bigger problem with exceedingly long delays on ICE flights.

Morning. Migrants remain at Portsmouth, NH, airport after being stuck on an ICE deportation plane in a blizzard for 14 hours.
Updated story with statement from DHS, including their plan to take off late last night, which appears to have failed.

We got 7.5 inches of snow yesterday. It's so pretty outside! Back to being a winter wonderland.
There's a very thin layer of ice underneath and the roads and sidewalks are very slippery, so be careful out there!
Anything over the Rockies and east is really important, as that's where many storms start their life cycle. Here's a tool to see weather balloon data. Note some states like Colorado didn't have launch this morning. No idea if that's related but very well could be. www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/soundi...
