A preprint ☀️ forming the foundation of my PhD dissertation. It traces how accessibility, the “potential” to spatially interact, relates to spatial interaction modelling. It also outlines how constants from this oh-so-related field can be folded into accessibility to yield interpretable units!

Friends, one of the biggest issues during this election has been Housing. Disabled Ontarians are among those most impacted by Ontario's failure to build accessible housing, ensure full rent control, and we are under direct attack through policing of unhoused disabled folks.

Imagine if Olivia Chow or a Liberal/NDP premier said this. There would be so much outrage, accusations of communist dictatorships, etc etc.

But we operate in a landscape where it's just "harmless" goofy bumbling Doug Ford.

AND MORE: 250k waiting for surgeries --11k of whom died on waitlists, endless land developer scandals, fantasy highway tunnels, chronic underfunding of higher ed, unadjusted social assistance programs + expanding poverty ... and so it goes...

In Canada, we don't have formalized regional land-use and transportation planning structures. It is more ad-hoc, unlike the MOP structure in the US.
