absolute highlight of the whole season’s recording for me was the slow dawning realisation that time city can be read as an omelas riff. what if narnia was omelas and doctor who was there.

Purple background, white text, which says ...is there such a thing as historical science fiction? There must be science fiction set in the past... a little digging turns up enough titles to show it really is a separate genre. So, let's think about historical science fiction. after that “wuthering heights“ trailer, emily bronte actually deserves more than a cardboard tube she needs a glock

re #3, especially on a remake that looks like it’ll completely erases the race discourse in the original 💀

One of the problems of short fiction is *finding* it. There's so much out there, it's hard to know how to find what you'll like. Enter InkFoundry. There are so many ways to search! Search by venue (Small Wonders, for example), by author, by tags... or have the site surprise you !

if your “gothic” novel isn't at least a little freaky and subversive, the ghosts of mary shelley and emily bronte should get to rise up from their graves and hit you with a cardboard tube

FF#26 cover. A woman's face, surrounded by broken shards of mirror and a few fragments of Noh masks. Each mirror contains a different eye. Above, two evil looking eyes peer down on the scene. Everything's rendered in light and dark blues.

i know it's to cheer people up, but the thing about the whole "people still laughed while the roman empire fell" argument is that the citizens of the roman empire were probably largely not aware it was happening. whereas we must endure the News Cycles

Really enjoyed this lovely story by Christie Yant about intimacy and the performance of the self, @diabolicalplots.com's throwback feature for this week. Very much a recommended read!
