In honor of the victims, survivors, and their loved ones, I'll never stop fighting for the safer future they deserve.
01.10.2025 13:46 β π 53 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0In the face of such tragedy, Nevadans summoned hope and demanded changeβand their lawmakers listened, passing several lifesaving gun laws. This progress was crucial, but there is more work to be done.
01.10.2025 13:46 β π 43 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0My heart aches for the 60 people killed eight years ago today at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegasβand the hundreds more who were injured. No family should ever carry this pain.
01.10.2025 13:46 β π 109 π 23 π¬ 3 π 0We know that more can be done to save lives and prevent targeted violence. Our leaders, on both sides of the aisle, must act now, before yet another community is altered forever by a horrific mass shooting.
28.09.2025 18:07 β π 71 π 13 π¬ 4 π 2Todayβs news of a shooting in Grand Blanc, Michigan attacking the Latter-day Saints community during worship is devastating. Families deserve safety wherever they are, but being targeted while practicing oneβs faith is especially horrific.
28.09.2025 18:07 β π 256 π 45 π¬ 13 π 3Today I met with Colorado lawmakers, community violence intervention advocates, and the recipients of the @giffords.org 2025 Lifesaving Service Award: Life-Line Colorado.
Community violence intervention saves lives, and we need more leaders like the ones I met today.
I know what it means to be shot in the head, to have doctors say survival is unlikely, and to fight for every step of recovery. Hearing that 12-year-old Sophia is healing is a miracle. Iβm praying for her recovery and for the strength of her family π
25.09.2025 14:47 β π 316 π 58 π¬ 7 π 5While we await more information, itβs clear our country is in the middle of a gun crime crisisβand I urge our leaders to take action immediately.
24.09.2025 14:30 β π 114 π 15 π¬ 1 π 0My heart breaks for the victims of this morningβs shooting at a Dallas ICE facility. On top of enduring this administrationβs cruel and inhumane immigration policy, these families have now seen loved ones killed or injured in a violent and awful way.
24.09.2025 14:30 β π 1017 π 236 π¬ 21 π 8This year especially, I hope we extend grace, reach across divides, and work for safer, healthier, more just communities. May our prayers and our actions be filled with compassion and intention.
Lβshanah tovah!
Since surviving an assassination attempt nearly 15 years ago, I see the New Year differently. What was once routine is now a miracleβeach one a victory over despair, a reminder never to take life for granted.
22.09.2025 23:55 β π 57 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0As we gather to welcome Rosh Hashanah, I feel deep gratitude for the gift of a new year. Every sunrise, every turn of the calendar, is a reminder that life is fragileβand precious. β‘οΈππ―
22.09.2025 23:55 β π 226 π 27 π¬ 3 π 2Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are big parts of what made this country great. The government threatening TV stations because our president doesn't like a comedian is dangerous. I'm proud to stand with my friend @jimmykimmel.com.
18.09.2025 15:53 β π 233 π 42 π¬ 8 π 1I will keep working hard and fighting to save lives so that no other family has to go through this.
It was rewarding to share my day to day with SELF Magazine.
Iβm so grateful for everyone who has stuck with me through recovery β @captmarkkelly.bsky.social, my family, friends, my therapists, and advocates. Every day of progress (and setbacks!) reminds me that Iβm alive for a reason.
17.09.2025 21:07 β π 293 π 42 π¬ 10 π 1Former Republican Sen. Jeff Flake and I agree: America needs sound leadership to bring us out of this dangerous moment.
Fanning the flames of division will only make things worse and lead to even more violence and crime. Our op-ed π
I call on my colleagues in Washington to show courage, not cowardice. I call on them to do the single most important thing they can for their constituents: keep them safe.
11.09.2025 18:27 β π 107 π 15 π¬ 4 π 0So I want to speak plainly to my former colleagues in Congress: Do something. Take action. Pray also if you want, but understand: your job is action.
11.09.2025 18:27 β π 171 π 39 π¬ 3 π 1It is physically very hard for me to speak due to my injuries from getting shot, and after watching yet another political shooting violently steal someoneβs life before our eyes, itβs even harder to find words.
11.09.2025 18:27 β π 41 π 5 π¬ 2 π 0Our stories are unique, but what Charlie Kirk, President Trump, Melissa Hortman and I all have in common is that someone who wanted to kill us had a gun.
11.09.2025 18:27 β π 45 π 7 π¬ 1 π 0Just as Melissa Hortman, the Speaker of the Minnesota State Legislature, deserved to be safe at home with her husband. Just as President Trump had the right to campaign without fear of being assassinated. Just as I had the right to meet with my constituents safely on January 8, 2011.
11.09.2025 18:27 β π 47 π 5 π¬ 1 π 0I mourn for Charlie Kirkβs family. I didnβt agree with almost anything he said, but he had a right to go on a work trip and return safely to his wife and two young children.
Like all Americans, he deserved to be safe from gun violence.
At just nine-years-old, Christina-Taylor was a leader at her school, a talented dancer, and a budding public servant who dreamed of making the world a better place.
I carry her memory with me as I work to build the safer future she believed in and deserved.
Today, Iβm thinking of Christina-Taylor Green on her 24th birthday.
She should be celebrating with her friends and family, but her life was stolen from her in January 2011 when she was shot while waiting to meet me.
The responsibility to protect our public servants, political figures, and all Americans is not partisan. Itβs patrioticβand long overdue. Congress must take action, now.
10.09.2025 21:43 β π 134 π 27 π¬ 0 π 0This summer alone, both Democrats and Republicans have been assassinated in heinous acts of political violence. Itβs terrifying, and has no place in a democracy.
10.09.2025 21:43 β π 165 π 30 π¬ 1 π 1The murder of Charlie Kirk breaks my heart. My deepest sympathies are with his wife, two young children, and friends.
Attacks against political or ideological opponents are cowardly and un-American, and must be universally condemned.
I'm horrified to hear that Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah.
Democratic societies will always have political disagreements, but we must never allow America to become a country that confronts those disagreements with violence.
Mark and I are praying for Charlie's recovery.
This morning in Charlotte, @captmarkkelly.bsky.social and I were proud to celebrate Labor Day with the Mecklenburg County Democrats. Working people and unions built this country. Iβll always be proud to stand with workers and the unions who lift us all up.
Happy Labor Day, everyone!
