I love BlueSky for many reasons-this post is at the top of my list. Learning who Marjane Satrapi is & that she wrote & co-directed her memoir of growing up in a progressive home in Tehran during the Islamic revolution in Iran. The graphic novel/film are both called Persepolis & now I must read it.

It has become a sudden matter of tragic urgency to read PERSEPOLIS, especially if you haven’t read it before.

I read Persepolis when I was getting my Bachelor’s Degree in History.

One of the best things I’ve ever read.

You should watch Persepolis. I used to show it in my Gender & Geo classes and they loved it. It helped them GET what happened in Iran in a way no lecture from me could.

Marjane Satrapi is the author of Perspepolis, a series of graphic novels and film that changed my life and outlooks on the world.

I urge anyone seeing this post to seek it out and share the experience with someone you love.

It would be great if the US showed the same level of determination against Russia that it shows toward Iran.

So I understand this attitude, but it misses why rules matter, which is that unchecked executives are immensely more likely to do things like massacre children. A world where Trump has to give an address to Congress asking for War Powers authority and a declaration of war likely doesn’t see this

Right, devotion to letting Trump do whatever he wants isn't the only reason why a lot of congressional Republicans don't want a vote on this. They do not want to be on record on having voted to bomb Iran ahead of the next election! A war powers resolution probably wouldn't have passed.
