Yeah, the banning is insane but truly unsurprising considering the administration. In my optimistic eyes I like to think it’s backfiring by spotlighting these books- in my case I’d been putting off reading them but now I’m doing so out of spite 😂

I will say Colombians love big words and Gabriel Garcia Marquez is poetic but reading the translated work…. I need to buy a dictionary. I hate having to grab my phone while reading. Context clues are great but I need to see the literal definition of everything I don’t know to file it accordingly 😂

I’m also still deciding whether I want to read it in English or in Spanish. It’s poetic either way, judging by Chronicles of a Death Foretold, but I just know it hits different in the original language.

I was going to start off strong with 100 Years of Solitude, which is one of the banned novels- but truthfully I’m scared as I was named after a character in the book. I already have a copy in English and in Spanish, just warming up with Chronicles of a Death Foretold. #booksky
