I know I'm a bit late to post this, but I was at @massmice.bsky.social this past Saturday and it's the one event every year that I get hyped for! I'm grateful that @kingsabear.bsky.social took me back in 2019 and now it's an annual tradition!

On the Scene: MICE 2025 focused on understanding comics It's my sixth time writing about MICE and I’ve still got things to say. That’s because the annual Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo, a free, two-day convention, held in a (once) historic Cadillac showroom on the (now) Boston University campus, is a liquid. It fills the space you put it in. It was snowing early Saturday afternoon, but that was outside.

It was my biggest con (maybe ever) and Im so grateful to the oganizers, volunteers, and all the passionate people I got to meet.

I bought a huge pile of comics, I went to a panel on graphic medicine, I ran into loads of comics pals, and I got to see Scott McCloud talk about visual communication. @massmice.bsky.social is a fantastic comics festival! What an absolute gem!

Spending the weekend helping out at @massmice.bsky.social really filled my heart. The indie comics community is just filled with raddest, most generous, most talented kind souls. I missed them! 💛

My haul from MICE 2025 @massmice.bsky.social. Super excited for "Black and Bloody" by the Black Indie Comix Club @blackindiecomixclub and "Ghost" by the MassArt Zine Club @zinescene. I love anthologies like these where I can see the work from a bunch of new (or new for me) artists at once.

it is so rewarding to be a MICE staff member to make sure everyone has a good time and is well taken care of… i hope all exhibitors a safe travel home and a fun time counting the big monies made this weekend. i congratulate all other guests on their library additions @massmice.bsky.social 🩷🐭
