Then why is the right - especially the religious right - using it a political calling card and marketing tool?

I have no faith. I do not believe in a deity. My morality and empathy have no roots in religious interpretations. Why can't you approach governance like me?

Do not appeal to faith institutions as a justification and defense for faith based secular governance. I point you to the Roman Catholic Church and Nazis in WWII

Differences in belief systems don’t equal differences in politics until you believe religion IS politics. BTW, politics is NOT governance - another failure of understanding w/faith people. Our founders were wise. Go reread them.

No -this is where you’re deeply wrong. Failure to prove isn’t’ license to jam your faith into the public sphere. It means you get to LIVE it freely, not use public service to enact it’s tenants. The absence means everyone, faithful or not, get equal service from the govt., w/o rights violated.

I like to start with “there is no way to prove there’s a god, so it doesn’t belong in the public service sphere. For anyone.” That’s how you avoid conflicting interpretations of what a deity hasn’t expressly said.

That decisions are seen first through the lens of what would please the deity and serve The Word. Example we're living: women's reproductive healthcare.

The belief system puts God before everything else - even thy neighbor. The mandate of secular public service is to put the needs of others first in consideration of the work done. And this is why I have trust issues. Because their public service comes through a God-first lens.

I am a living, breathing violation of your argument.

I politely beg to differ. I warehouse store bulk buy and am now returning to backfill things I bought in November. And some of those items have gone up by 30-50%. That's real & measurable. I won't talk about price of RAM & hard drives I just needed to buy. Those doubled.
