Most of what I watch and read these days is because of micro reviews. The rest is returning to nostalgic old loves. New things are too much sometimes – especially these days. My blood pressure can't handle it.

I'd heard it was good before watching it and I was still surprised. I can't remember the last legitimately good monster movie I'd seen before it.

Oh! If you want an actually good Godzilla movie Godzilla Minus One is fantastic.

Honestly I think you'd be okay not watching any of them. So far Monarch is very siloed – there doesn't seem to be any crossover from the movies beyond "Monarch exists and monsters are real."

That being said Godzilla vs Kong was fantastic and sets up an idea that's in the show.

We just watched season 1 of Monarch over the last couple weeks. It makes no sense and it's great. And now Kong is in season 2 so it's even better.
