The band I play drums in has a show exactly one week from today and my kit is still just piled up in my basement in the spot I brought it in after our last show around thanksgiving.

I’ll admit my mood lately is that I just want to cancel everything. I’m glad I went through with the set last night though felt good to just kinda pull something out of the air and make it work

I’m doing a hybrid quiet/drone set tonight. I haven’t practiced at all besides thumbing at my acoustic on the couch. Old stuff. This morning I decided to set up this semi-hollow that has only had 5 strings on it for a few years now to use tonight too.

I finally pulled the trigger and grabbed the cd while in Vermont last month. John5 on guitar, dude from Skinny Puppy producing

Yeah I think overall I was pleasantly surprised by this, a few songs that weren’t as good as others but yeah.

Was just looking into it more and Trent gets exclusive producer credits but it seems two other guys actually produced it. It also features John 5 on guitar

Oh damn that makes complete sense

It was released at the same time as when he came out and the press ran with that and I think the album fell to the wayside

It’s definitely on streaming services. The album is called Voyeurs and the band name is Two. Nu-metal isn’t quite the right term but it does skate the line

It also does that big thick guitars over big programmed beats with a lot of melody thing I love.

…That was released on nothing in 97/98 called Two. This would’ve been on heavy rotation back than if I grabbed it, a few songs in and it often reminds me of Failure

We have near the enture library of recorded music at our fingertips but I’m still pretty old school and won’t listen to something until I find a physical copy. Well nearly 30 years after hearing about it I’m finally listening to that Rob Halford nu-metal project….

Just gotta say my very Hispanic wife is so fucking excited for the Benito Bowl. I got the subwoofer set up for the tv just for half time.

Guy putting on the show last night texted me that I made the right call cuz the venues heat broke right after load in

They’re supposed to get 8” of snow tonight and most of my drive up to there would’ve been in desolate mountain areas

I lied. Talked to some friends up there and decided I’m going to cancel cuz it’s not worth risking the trip through this.

Wind chill at the house has it feeling like -26F right now. Leaving shortly to drive up to Rochester NY to play at the Psychic Garden.

Where I stored my gear in my parents basement at the time was near their coal stove and I even used covers to protect the gear but it still found its way in. Guess that was my way of saying I’m officially a NEPA resident.

Sweeping out the garage this morning before loading my gear for the show tonight and thought about how from late 2014 through 2017 there were times it looked like I had a hazer on stage but it was just my speakers pushing the coal dust off the cabs.

I love how Thom brought another dimension to the amazing warm embrace that is PfB. It's hopeful, and it's consoling, and it's escapism, and it's painful, and it's pure, iridescent beauty.

Awww thanks Johan

My only real goal this year was to play more shows than my personal best year which was 52 shows in 2014. Last night I tied it, which I’m gonna consider a win because 2014 was over an entire calendar year. I did this in just 6 months while also working the most amount of overtime I ever have before.

I definitely believe this.

Like I said I always liked it enough but never felt it to hard but today it hit

23.12.2025 21:42 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

A counter point to yesterdays feeling that music stuck to me more when I was younger, is that I love listening to an album I just kinda liked enough when I was younger but listening now with years of experience behind me it just hits so much harder. Today for me that was Pulp’s This Is Hardcore.
