Pretty sure that many of my favorite movies weren't regarded as commercial successes. Hell, John Carpenter only had two real big smash hits; most of the rest didn't set the box office on fire. Who cares. Well, aside the folks directly tied to things, I suppose.

Adaptation draws madness.

Aside from the stuff I'm writing, the only media adaptation I'd like to do is Blood Meridian, which would be the story of the production team that attempts shooting the adaptation and the further they get into it, the more things... happen.

It's good to see real reporting on the farm worker crisis, which directly ties into food into grocery stores and kitchen tables.

All that said, MAGA practices magical thinking and will just write it off. Maybe enough non-MAGA will see it and change their minds. I'd like to be hopeful.

At that point, you're handing things over to the subconscious, the Night Shift, to do some of that heavy lifting and work on a level just past words, but stirred up by them.

And it's the absolute same, maybe even more important in written fiction. If you underwrite, you're leaving space for the reader to participate and imagine things for themselves. Yes, it's an old saw to say "the thing not seen is scarier than the thing seen" but it's true.
