Before Ford could respond, a bird landed on Bill’s hand and turned to look him right in the eye. It was a goldfinch, bright yellow with black markings between its eyes and on the tips of its wings. It could be a coincidence… or it could be much worse. The way its shadow converged to a point on the ground underneath it made him think it was the latter.
