Its always a bad idea to lump together people in a religion - but if she insists, one would have to point out that it isn 't muslims genociding people in Gaza, and it isn't muslims beating up and murdering people in Minneapolis, or bombing schoolgirls in Iran - maybe round up the Xtians.

This war tells us clearly that the Pentagon cannot be trusted to decide what orders are illegal or legal, they'll do whatever the fuehrer tells them to. Anthropic should cease doing business with the Pentagon or any part of the fascist regime involved in suppressing, arresting or murdering people.

Maybe its because impact investors aren't asking the tough questions about Impact Investing. Anyone working in the field will tell you how broken it is, while people pat themselves on the back at pay-to-pay conferences of investors.

Interesting article - especially comparison between US & AU costs.
Saul missed a key step in the history, the solar rebates. I ran the 1st company to do residential at scale, a few thousand houses-(massive back in 2007), based on removing a lot of the supply/installation chain inefficiencies

Inclusive Rural Enterprise Scale-Up Loan – LendForGood

I’ve been supporting social enterprise startups via both mentoring and loans the last few years, its effective support in a space where other sources (banks, impact VC) fails badly. At the moment I’m most excited about Digigram ventures in Bangladesh. lendforgood.io/digigram-2025/, join in support

COP30 delivered the usual: nothing. Consensus lets fossil-fuel-owned governments block action, so we need a real Coalition of the Willing to enforce climate accountability.

Glad to hear - seriously in 2025 it should be headlines if any charity is NOT invested in alignment with its mission. Seriously, would I want to donate to a charity whose money was invested contrary to its mission; in weapons, fossil fuels; or in companies doing business with Russia or Israel

Exactly - copying twitter's model is the big mistake of Bluesky and Mastodon - 95% of what I read on Facebook is group chat's - because the rest of it is so poor. Many of those groups have moved to Whatsapp - but that's still Meta. Bsky needs group chats badly.

Net Zero by 2050 is largely meaningless for a country whose main contribution to global emissions is not domestic emissions, but the emissions from the fossil fuels it extracts and exports. Drilling and opening more mines is criminally irresponsible during a climate emergency.

Trusk just needs an act of congress to repeal it, and he's got congress for at least the next two years.

I'm a big tea-drinker. There was a report a couple of years ago that listed which brands of tea-bags contained plastics. None of the non-plastic brands were available in my local super markets so I switched to loose leaf, which of course is better for other sustainability and taste reasons anyway.

We dont have an insurance crisis - its not that these houses are uninsurable, it is that they are uninhabitable due to climate change. No amount of tinkering around the insurance system can hide the fact that a house with e.g. a 10% chance of catastrophic flooding each year shouldn't be lived in .

That makes sense - I saw them advertised and had my doubts as well. I've got a few of the soil moisture ones to try, but haven't hooked them up yet. I've heard the reliability is low - that they corrode quickly though the capacitive ones are supposed to be better than resistive ones.

Those SSTs are just absurd. More than a full degree above the climatological mean.

Opinion: I’m a climate scientist. If you knew what I know, you’d be terrified too | CNN Climate scientist Bill McGuire writes on his conundrum: what’s happening to our planet scares the hell out of himβ€”but if he shouts the unvarnished truth from the rooftops, will that inspire you to act...

"If the fracturing of our once stable climate doesn’t terrify you, then you don’t fully understand it....We’re experiencing, in our lifetimes, a heating episode that is probably unique in the last 4.6 billion years."
